Originally formed as a computer network installation and maintenance company supporting small to medium sized business, and originally named JAM Systems in 1997, the company changed direction to take advantage of the growth of the Internet and moved into cyber security and changed its name to Empire Technologies in the year 2000. Delivering IT support and Network Protection gave the business growth and with that came opportunity, and this was when a creative change offering Web Design and Development saw a rename and rebrand again to 8PageDesign in 2002.
As the company built websites it developed online solutions that could be replicated to similar businesses, and further growth allowed the company to increase its service portfolio to Internet Service Provider territory. The company name was changed again in 2004 to Barrie Johnson Internet considering its portfolio of Internet based services and after many years of success was sold in 2015. The company closed its doors in the same year as it amalgamated with its new owners and adopted their company name and a pause in trading took place.
Year 2024 has seen the return of Barrie Johnson with a fresh new approach to IT solutions, and the chosen name this time is after it’s original founder and owner Barrie Johnson, and now has a portfolio of products and services to offer Green IT, including that of the original portfolio of Website Services, and Computer Recycling.
Today Barrie Johnson has added Smart Technology to its portfolio where the integration of Renewable Energy and Smart Services into its IT solutions means that we can offer Sustainable IT Services to our clients, allowing them and their employees to adopt sustainable practices and culture and reduce their carbon footprint.
Barrie Johnson also offers recruitment services to the renewable industry, supplying Smart Meter Engineers, Electric Vehicle Engineers and Heat Pump Engineers to enable the nationwide roll out of Smart Technology, and is constantly adapting our business to meet the global environmental challenges that our clients are facing.
